Multiple tenants in the fifteen-story Alexandria Real Estate West Tower in NYC needed FDNY fire alarm system Letters of Approval, which also allowed issuance of a Permanent or Temporary Certificate of Occupancy (TCO).
Solution
Sparc provided expert fire alarm code consulting, coordinated inspections, witnessed fire alarm system testing, and prepared affidavits to ensure FDNY approval for PCOs and TCOs.
Challenge
The Allen-Stevenson School in Manhattan sought to expand and renovate multiple buildings vertically and faced complex phasing and implementation needs.
Solution
In well-thought-out commissioning phases, Sparc upgraded the private school’s ARCS and fire alarm system, designed a fire safety and evacuation plan in accordance with NYCDOB and FDNY requirements, witnessed pre-testing, and coordinated all inspections and filings to secure the TCO.
Challenge
A rooftop BESS in Brooklyn, NY, was deemed an exposure hazard to three nearby buildings due to its deflagration vents.
Solution
Sparc utilized performance-based design and CFD modeling to evaluate fire risks associated with the deflagration vents. The analysis demonstrated that the adjacent buildings met the performance criteria, resulting in the approval of the BESS location.
Challenge
The new 750,000+ sq. ft. underground Croton Water Filtration Plant, built by the NYCDEP in the Bronx, needed expert assistance to meet stringent NYC fire codes.
