The Capitol at Chelsea, a 36-story apartment building in Manhattan, underwent podium-level renovations and needed a new commercial space fire alarm system on the cellar through the 4th floors of the building.

Sparc developed a comprehensive Fire Safety Plan and prepared design documents for the new fire alarm system. We filed the plans with the NYCDOB and FDNY, ensuring full compliance and approval.
Challenge
The New York Marriott Downtown, a 37-story hotel, needed a phased construction and system implementation schedule to perform guest room renovations while maintaining reduced operations.
Solution
With full consideration of the hotel’s capacity and position one level below grade, Sparc coordinated a phased plan with the FDNY beginning at the top of the building and proceeding down, prepared the fire alarm design for system replacement, and ensured compliance with NYC regulations throughout the renovation process.
Challenge
The Shrub Oak International School — a private special education boarding and day school for young adults on the autism spectrum in Shrub Oak, NY — required a fire alarm system design that prioritized life safety while minimizing exposure to notification appliances.
Solution
Sparc collaborated with the local Building Department to discuss fire alarm system requirements, developed a notification exposure-limiting approach designed to accommodate students’ varying sensory needs (teenagers and adults, ages 14 to 22+), and prepared the necessary documentation for filing and approval.
