Sparc performed a warehouse sprinkler system analysis for the existing manufacturing and storage building. The building occupied by the client includes multiple parts – a processing / manufacturing portion and a liquid storage warehouse portion. Sparc was retained to perform an assessment of the storage of a significant quantity of liquids of varying classifications for flammability and combustibility. The warehouse sprinkler system analysis was performed to determine if the maximum allowable quantities were exceeded, but also to evaluate the ability of the existing foam / water sprinkler system to protect the hazard. The evaluation was performed utilizing the applicable editions of NFPA 13 and NFPA 30, as well as the Connecticut State Fire Safety Code and Connecticut State Fire Prevention Code. Sparc’s report included multiple options for code compliance to allow for flexibility in future storage arrangements. After Sparc’s assessment, design documents were prepared for the modification of the existing sprinkler system which included redesign of the piping and sprinklers as well as hydraulic calculations.
